The Indiana Assisted Living Association services as a powerful voice for legislation related to senior housing owners and operators, championing their interests at both the state and national levels. Through active engagement with policymakers, regulatory agencies and industry partners, INALA works to shape legislation through in person meetings with legislators, legislative visits at member communities, position statement development to address specific legislation and partnership with like-minded state and national associations that support our initiatives. Our goal is to support quality care, operational stability and workforce development as well as to ensure the future success of Indiana’s senior living communities.
INALA is a state affiliate of Argentum (formerly Assisted Living Federation of America), the national trade association dedicated to senior housing magnifies our industry’s voice as they tackle critical legislations impacting the senior living industry. Argentum’s Executive Director, James Balda, has been recognized for the last 5 years as the Top Lobbyist in Washington, D.C., and Argentum has been repeatedly recognized for its legislative efforts as it offers the Members access to both state and national resources and information to help support the best interests of those we serve.
Our members can count on INALA to monitor emerging issues, influence policy decisions, and ensure that the needs of Indiana’s senior living providers and residents are clearly represented.
Each state’s regulatory environment brings a new challenge to Senior Living Owners and Operators, and now, the Federal Government seeks to expand their regulatory influence within the industry, creating an even greater need to advocacy in the regulatory space. The Indiana Assisted Living Association actively engages with local, state and federal agencies in an effort to advocate for thoughtful regulations that will only build upon the quality of care and services provided in our senior living communities. The Indiana Assisted Living Association also serves as a resource for interpreting and implementing the State’s regulations for Executive Directors or corporate team members who need assistance in day-to-day operations or throughout the survey process.
Through partnership with like-minded state associations and with our national affiliate, Argentum, INALA actively works to shape such regulatory initiatives such as certification of Qualified Medication Aides for insulin administration, Medicaid Waiver processes and reimbursement, and the new residential care community regulation development. Our goal is to support quality care, operational stability, workforce development, and ensure the future success of Indiana’s senior living communities.
